Advantages of GRP

Benefits, such as high tensile strength, low weight (approximately 1/4 of the weight of steel), corrosion resistant, non-conductive properties, radar transparent and electromagnetically neutral, combine to deliver a highly cost effective, durable and sustainable product.

Advantages of GRP over steel?

Pound for pound GRP can be stronger than steel. Due to being so light, this makes it easy to transport and install, requiring less man power than if steel was used instead. GRP has virtually no maintenance, or maintenance cost, involved.

One of the main reason that makes GRP an environmentally-friendly material is because of the way that it’s manufactured. Unlike alternative materials, such as aluminum and steel, GRP releases very minimal harmful products into the atmosphere.

GRP more sustainable than steel

The process also produces less greenhouse gases and toxic emissions. Some studies have suggested that GRP production uses approximately 75% less energy and only produces 1/3 of the amount of CO2 produced when compared to steel.

Appearance

GRP products are gel-coated in their moulds with a choice of flat, semi-gloss or high gloss colour eliminating the need for painting. GRP products can be manufactured in numerous finishes, textures, and colours, so various surface appearances can also be achieved in the mould, but if the required colour cannot be achieved in the mould then the component can be spray painted from a huge choice of standard, metallic , or colour’s.
